“I thank my God for every remembrance of you, always in every one of my prayers for all of you, praying with joy for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Philippians 1:3-5, NRSVue)
Sunday was a glorious day as we shared in one worship service followed by a fellowship meal, celebrating each other and the gifts we are to one another. I am always reticent to begin to name names when offering thanks out of fear of leaving someone off; however, if I’m missing anyone, let me know so I can express my gratitude in next week’s Messenger!
Let’s start with the Meal Team: I’m grateful to Holly Nichols and Bridget Kindahl for the beautiful table settings and decorations. I’m thankful for Travis Short and the delicious food he prepared. We are indebted to our servers, Debby Nelson, Michelle Britton, Terry Buchanan, Kim Stout, Ray Nichols, Lee Nichols, Marianna Jordan, Michelle Hyde, and Mary Tidwell. Tucker Buchanan did his usual excellent job of helping with clean-up.
The Worship Team: Bishop William McAlilly gave a wonderful message, Terry Stubblefield and Emily Brown provided sound worship leadership, our Wesley Ringers, under the direction of Linda May (who is also organist extraordinaire!), our Adult Choir, under the direction of Daniel Ritch, and our flutist, Whitney O’Neal, brought us meaningfully into God’s presence.
The Congregation: Thanks to all who pledged to the General Fund for 2025. As of today (11/19/2024), we received 85 pledges totaling $621,970, and we anticipate more in the next several weeks. This financial support is a good start, and we’re so thankful for the 50 pledgers who increased their 2024 pledges by $59,380. We also received $47,050 in new pledges, and we are excited about these folks taking a step up in their stewardship.
In this season of thanksgiving, let’s thank God for one another and the partnership we share in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you!!!
